You can delete or permanently delete files or folders stored in Rakuten Drive Cloud via rakuten-drive.com and Rakuten Drive mobile app.
※ Note: Only the file owner or someone with permission to edit can delete a shared file.

Delete file or folder
On rakuten-drive.com
1. Login to rakuten-drive.com
2. Go to Rakuten Drive Cloud.
3. Select a file or folder and delete it.
For a single file or folder
1) Right-click the file or folder you want to delete.
2) Click Delete from the context menu.
For multiple files or folders
1) Select multiple files or folders you want to copy.
2) Click [Delete] on the right side.
On Mobile app
1. Open Rakuten Drive app and sign in.
2. Navigate to Cloud menu.
3. Select a file or folder and delete it.
For a single file or folder
1) Tap (⋮) ellipsis icon to the right of the file or folder you want to delete.
2) Tap Delete from the bottom menu.
For multiple files or folders
1) Long-press a file or folder to switch to edit mode.
2) Select the multiple files or folders you want to delete.
3) Tap (⋮) ellipsis icon at the bottom and tap Delete.
Trash storage period
Files moved to trash are kept for 14 days by default. In Cloud storage settings, you can set how long deleted files are kept in the trash, up to 30 days. After the set period from the file deletion date, the file will be permanently deleted.
※ To set Trash storage period:
1. Login to rakuten-drive.com
2. Click your profile thumbnail in the upper right corner.
3. Click Cloud Storage.
4. Set the number of days in the Trash storage period.
Empty Trash
※ Note: If you empty trash or delete a file or folder from trash, it will be permanently deleted.
On rakuten-drive.com
1. Login to rakuten-drive.com
2. Go to Rakuten Drive Cloud.
3. Click Trash in the left menu.
Empty trash entirely
1) Select The deleted files from My Drive or The deleted files from Team Drive.
2) Click [Empty trash] on the right side.
Permanently delete file or folder
1) Select The deleted files from My Drive or The deleted files from Team Drive.
2) Select the file or folder you want to permanently delete.
3) Click [Delete] on the right side.
On Rakuten Drive app for iOS
1. Open Rakuten Drive app and sign in.
2. Navigate to Cloud menu.
3. Select Trash tab on the top.
Empty trash entirely
1) Select The deleted files from My Drive or The deleted files from Team Drive.
2) Tap (⋮) ellipsis icon at the top right.
3) Tap Empty Trash from the bottom menu.
Permanently delete file or folder
1) Select The deleted files from My Drive or The deleted files from Team Drive.
2) Tap (⋮) ellipsis icon to the right of the file or folder you want to permanently delete.
3) Tap Delete from the bottom menu.
On Rakuten Drive app for Android
1. Open Rakuten Drive app and sign in.
2. Navigate to Cloud menu.
3. Select Trash tab on the top.
Empty trash entirely
1) Select The deleted files from My Drive or The deleted files from Team Drive.
2) Tap Trash can icon at the top right.
3) Tap OK.
Permanently delete file or folder
1) Select The deleted files from My Drive or The deleted files from Team Drive.
2) Tap (⋮) ellipsis icon to the right of the file or folder you want to permanently delete.
3) Tap Delete from the bottom menu.
Restore file or folder from trash
On rakuten-drive.com
1. Login to rakuten-drive.com
2. Go to Rakuten Drive Cloud.
3. Click Trash in the left menu.
4. Select The deleted files from My Drive or The deleted files from Team Drive.
5. Select file or folder from trash.
6. Click [Restore] on the right side.
On Mobile app
1. Open Rakuten Drive app and sign in.
2. Navigate to Cloud menu.
3. Select Trash tab on the top.
4. Select The deleted files from My Drive or The deleted files from Team Drive.
5. Tap (⋮) ellipsis icon to the right of the file or folder you want to restore.
6. Tap Restore from the bottom menu.

To safeguard your valuable privacy, if you haven't logged in and accessed Rakuten Drive for over a year, your account will be considered dormant and all files stored in Rakuten Drive Cloud will be deleted and initialized. You will receive a notification at the email address signed up for your Rakuten Drive, one month prior to the scheduled dormancy transition date. If you sign in to Rakuten Drive before the scheduled dormancy transition date, your account will remain active, and you can continue using the service as usual. If you wish to avoid having your account converted to dormant, please log in to Rakuten Drive immediately and click on the [Activate account] button.

If your subscription is terminated and you are downgraded to Rakuten Drive Free due to unresolved issues with your card, such as insufficient funds or exceeding your credit limit, despite multiple attempts to pay for your subscription, all files stored in the Rakuten Drive Cloud will be deleted after 187 days from the date of termination.

Once deleted, they cannot be recovered, so be sure to back up your important files.
