You can upload files and folders to Rakuten Drive via rakuten-drive.com and Rakuten Drive mobile app. The maximum file size you can upload to Rakuten Drive Cloud depends on your membership. Rakuten Drive Free members can upload up to 10 GB, PRO and Business members can upload up to 50 GB, and Advanced members can upload up to 100 GB at a time.
On rakuten-drive.com
1. Login to rakuten-drive.com
2. Go to Rakuten Drive Cloud
3. Click [Upload files] or [Upload folders]. Alternatively, you can upload files and folders to the cloud by dragging and dropping them onto the screen.
- If you choose to Upload files, select as many files as you want, and then click Open.
- If you choose to Upload folders, select folders and then click Upload.
※ For Rakuten Drive X Rakuten Mobile program user: As of September 24th 2024, the upload function for Web will be available until 1 TB of total storage per Rakuten Drive X Rakuten Mobile *Unlimited plan* user. On Rakuten Drive app for iOS
Option 1: Upload files on the Home menu
1. Open Rakuten Drive app and sign in.
2. Navigate to the Home menu.
3. Explore the different tabs within the Home menu to select the files you want to upload.
4. Tap Upload at the bottom.
5. Select a location, then tap Upload to Rakuten Drive Cloud.
Option 2: Upload files on the Cloud menu
1. Open Rakuten Drive app and sign in.
2. Navigate to the Cloud menu.
3. Tap (⋮) ellipsis icon at the top right.
4. Tap Upload in the bottom menu.
5. Select files and upload them to Rakuten Drive Cloud.
- Choose from Photos: You can browse through the photos and videos stored in the Photos app's Camera Roll. Select files and then tap Done at the upper right corner.
- Choose from Album: You can browse your stored photos and videos in the Photos app by album. Tap one of your albums, select files, then tap Done at the upper right corner.
- Take Photo: Take a photo with the camera, then tap Use Photo at the lower left corner.
- Browse: You can browse all of your files stored in the Files app. Select files and then tap [Open] at the upper right corner.
On Rakuten Drive app for Android
Option 1: Upload files on the Home menu
1. Open Rakuten Drive app and sign in.
2. Navigate to the Home menu.
3. Explore the different tabs within the Home menu to select the files you want to upload.
4. Tap Upload at the bottom.
5. Select a location, then tap Upload to Rakuten Drive Cloud.
Option 2: Upload files on the Cloud menu
1. Open Rakuten Drive app and sign in.
2. Navigate to the Cloud menu.
3. Tap Upload icon at the upper left corner.
4. Select files and upload them to Rakuten Drive Cloud.
- Take Photo: Take a photo with the camera, then tap OK icon.
- Upload from Device: You can browse through all the files stored in your internal storage. Select a file and it will be uploaded immediately to Rakuten Drive Cloud.
※ Regarding the Home menu on Rakuten Drive mobile app:

The Home menu displays files stored on your device while using Rakuten Drive app, but it is never synchronized with the cloud. Please note that if you delete a file and folder from the Home menu, it will also be deleted from your device.

Rakuten Drive app for iOS: The Home menu is divided into three tabs: Photos, Videos, and Files. On the Photos and Videos tabs, you can view photos and videos stored in the Camera Roll in the Photos app. On the Files tab, you can view files stored in the Rakuten Drive folder in the Files app.

Rakuten Drive app for Android: You can view all the files stored on your device from the Home menu. Files other than photos and videos can be found on the Files tab.
※ Note:
- If the name of the file you're attempting to upload is too long, it might be difficult to upload to the cloud. Please rename the file to within 250 characters before uploading.
- If you are using the Rakuten Drive X Rakuten Mobile program, please note that file uploads can only be done through the mobile app.
- If your usage exceeds your cloud storage quota, you will face limitations on sharing and uploading files, and all files in “My Drive” will be subject to automatic deletion after 187 days. Before then, please either download the files and save them to your own device, reduce your storage usage to within your quota, or upgrade to a higher tier plan. (▶️ How to subscribe a plan)
